Roughly 39.
Mid-to-late-19th c.
Consists of roughly 39 single- and multi-family residential buildings either identified as the property of the Windham Linen Co. on an 1869 map of the area or likely built by the firm shortly thereafter. By the beginning of the 20th century the mill and associated housing had been acquired by the American Thread Co. (#3332), which operated into the late-20th century. The buildings are located along Main and Ives Streets and include a mix of one-and-a-half-, two-, and two-and-a-half-story wood-frame residences. Notable among these are a row of four two-and-a-half-story houses with front-facing gable roofs situated along Main Street near its intersection with Dunham Street, five two-and-a-half-story four-family residences with side-gabled roofs and large shed dormers situated along the north side of Ives Street west of Beech Street, and numerous one-and-a-half-story duplexes with side-gabled roofs found along Main and Ives Streets.
