Includes the mill site and housing formerly owned by the Sprague Mill (#2956), as well several dozen additional structures associated with the establishment and operation of the mill. Company-built housing is located northwest and south of the mill complex along 5th Avenue, Wall Street, River Street, Main Street, High Street, Brookside Avenue, Elm Street, Maple Street, and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Avenues. The roughly 130 duplex-style employee residences erected by the mill operators between 1857 and 1861 are all located within and contribute to the district, as do a number of non-mill-owned ancillary, institutional, and religious structures found throughout the village.
