For description see National Register application: http://pdfhost.focus.nps.gov/docs/NRHP/Text/91000949.pdf. Consists of Plainfield’s Central Village and includes the mill and worker housing formerly owned and operated by Plainfield Woolen Co. (#762). The housing is located east of the mill along the south side of East Main Street and consists of eight one-and-a-half- and two-story wood-frame duplexes that were erected ca. 1901. Additional working-class housing of note is located within the district along Putnam Road and Palmer Court, however, this was erected between 1890 and 1903 by a local merchant and developer, Walter Palmer, rather than by mill operatives.
