Associated with the Collins Co. (#19) axe factory and mill. Consists of a highly cohesive and well preserved mill village comprised of approximately 300 stone, brick, and wood-frame structures, these predominantly built by the Collins Co. The three primary residential zones consist of a cluster of company houses and tenements located on the east side of the Farmington River concentrated along and in the vicinity of Bridge and Church Streets; a mix of company and middle-class housing standing along and in the vicinity of Maple Street; and a mix of company and middle-class housing situated east of the mill in an area roughly bounded by Bridge Street, Canal Street, High Street, Spring Street, and Cemetery Road.
