Several dozen.
Early 20th c.
Associated with the Connecticut Mills Co. mill (#3023). Includes a village of Tudor and Colonial Revival style residences on Morin Avenue, Wheatley Street, Connecticut Mills Avenue, and Lewis Boulevard. These were designed by architect W.H. Cox and even in the instances of being of duplicate type are arranged in varying directions, thus mitigating appearances of repetition. Of particular note is a large, stone, Tudor Revival apartment block located at the southwest corner of the intersection of Morin Avenue and Wheatley Street. This has a V-shaped footprint comprised of two wings joined by a central block, the eaveline of which faces northeast. An arched passageway within the central block leads to an interior courtyard and a domed clock tower rises from the building’s roof.
