Mid 19th c.; 1882-85
Consists of four single and duplex wood-frame residential buildings (15, 21, 23 and 25 Hop River Road), and a former school house built in 1885 (7 Hop River Road). The community was built to support the Hop River Warp Co. (1838-1912), whose mill was located on the north side of the Hop River. The mill produced cotton thread and yarns through 1892; later production included shoe inserts, chair seats and fiberboard. The mill and village were served by the Hartford-Providence-Fishkill Railroad on the north side of the river, where a depot building was also post office and passenger station.
