The district highlights the significance of the Cheney Bros. Mfg. Co. (#2964) and includes an extensive collection of company-owned housing. The latter consists of several hundred single- or multi-family residences built or acquired by the Cheney Bros. Mfg. Co. between 1850 and 1920.
