According to the 1940 Industrial Research Laboratories of the United States, Bulletin Number 104 of the National Research Council, Washington DC, Air Reduction Company was headquartered in New York, with laboratories in Stamford, Jersey City, NJ, and Baltimore, MD. Research activities included gases, cutting and welding apparatus and equipment, alcohols and derivatives, organic chemicals, solvents, resins and plasticizers, though which of these occurred in Stamford in not clear.
