Historic Narrative

Electrical componants factory of Hubbell Inc. manufactured commercial and industrial wiring devices at the site since opening in 1960. The company was founded in 1888 by Harvey Hubbell, a pioneer in electrical components including the light socket. In 2019, Hubbell announced closure together of Newtown and Bethel plants, leaving facilities in Winsted, Mystic and Avon and headquarters in Shelton.
