Historic Narrative

The site was part of the larger American Brass Company factory complex from c.1915 through at least 1950. The brick building along Freight Street, which housed a machine shop and pattern storage, had direct rail spur access. MacDermid Corp. is a specialty chemical and composite manufacturer established in 1922 by Scottish immigrant Archie MacDermid (courtesy http://www.macdermid.com/), however the company did not occupy the site until some time after 1950.
