Originally the site of Captain Robert Sharp's saw, shingle and grist mill c.1815. William Masinda purchased the mill property c.1895, and in 1903 established an ocean pearl button shop while continuing to operate the saw, shingle and grist milling. The building was destroyed by fire in 1907. Masinda rebuilt with a small, single story building and concentrated on the button operation until closing in 1938. The company employed Czech immigrants at the various small stations which still survive. State Register listing 2017
