Southernmost building of Northrop Metalworking Complex along the Bullymuck Brook documented by the New England Chapter of SIA in 2001. The land was acquired by three Northrup brothers in 1845, and the three and a half acre site was developed with dam, penstocks, water wheel, foundry, machine shop, smithy and dwellings. The Northrops made castings to order and cast-iron fences for the first twenty-five years or so, by 1870 producing pig iron, iron fingers, iron pipes and castings. The operations ceased at the site with the death of Sheldon Northrop in 1887.
