Historic Narrative

Established in 1941 by John Lavieri, a farmer who decided to open a machine shop to help the war effort after Pearl Harbor bombing, the company has been family run for three generations. Lavieri had worked as a toolmaker during WWI. During World War II, Sterling worked almost exclusively on the Corsair fighter plane for Vought-Sikorsky Co. Currently the company machines and assembles parts for jet engines, helicopters, gas and steam turbines.
