The W. W. Mildrum Jewel Co. was established by at least 1915 and was run by Oscar Benson. The company specialized in jewels for instrument bearings, agate fishing rod guides and swiveling rod tips for fishing rods. In 1948, the company filed for a patent for a textile guide ring invented by Arthur Benson; it was assigned in 1951.
