At least 40, perhaps upwards of 60.
Mid 19th through early 20th c.
Consists of a collection of single- and multi-family residences located in the vicinity of the Almyville Mill (#3324). The mill was erected by William Almy in 1816 and some fifteen employee residences are identified as being owned by the Almy family on an 1868 map of the area. Matthew Roth noted that some 60 workers’ dwellings were formerly associated with the mill, the majority of these easily identified by their duplex plans and side-gabled roofs. This housing appears to have been built after 1868, while the earlier residences consisted of one-story, single-family Cape Cod Cottage style houses, most of these located along the south side of North Main Street just east of the mill. At least 40 of the early or duplex-style houses can be easily identified in the vicinity of the mill, while the balance of 20 buildings identified by Roth may include additional working-class residences along such nearby streets as Parent Hill Road and Cottage Street.
