Historic Narrative

The Cheney Brothers purchased the buildings and water rights of the former Union Mills c.1900 and built this hydro power plant c.1901; it used water from Union Pond and redistributed it by overhead wires to the southern mills. The Union Mill buildings themselves were demolished and some of the stone reused by the Cheney Brothers.
